Reflections on why I do triathlons


1. The mental and physical high you get after a tough workout.

2. The feeling of confidence you get after going farther or faster then you ever have before

3. Three sports in one race means you don't get bored

4. Seeing how far you can go

5, Swimming in lakes

6. Enjoying the outdoors

7. All the fitness you gain from training for 3 different sports

8. The possibility of doing an ironman triathlon, or achiving another tough goal

9. Expierencing the outdoors (I once ran a 5K in the middle of a snowstorm!)

10. Free T-Shirts!

11. Biking/Running in the rain on a hot summer day

12. You can escape the mundaness of daily life for a liitle while (during your workouts)

13. The way time seems to dissapear in the middle of a good swim workout

14. Feeling on top of the world after your first triathlon

15. Feeling on top of the world after every triathlon you do

16. Seeing different part of the country (or of a state) as you do different triathlons

17. Seeing how much you progress as you train ("I used to think that was hard?")

18. Riding a bike full speed downhill

19. Realizing that missing a workout makes you go crazy!

20. Always looking forward to the next event...
